Finding The Right Patio Furniture Is Not Hard To Do

By David Fishman

You need to think of your patio as an extension of your house, so when choosing furniture or decorating the patio you need to make feel like you are in your house and make sure the patio mimics the other rooms of your home. After your patio or deck is complete bring your outdoor space to life by finding elegant designs of iron patio furniture, it is not only beautiful but weather resistant. When you place patio furniture outside it makes your outdoor are more enjoyable and will make your summers more enjoyable.

When looking at patio furniture you need to look at the different designs and types before making a decision on purchasing, you need to know the differences between wicker, teak, plastic or iron furniture. There is something dramatic and romantic about it that makes wicker quite unique.

Many prefer the look of natural wood to aluminum or plastic, and there is nothing more beautiful than the natural look of teak patio furniture. Choosing the correct design or style for you home depends on many different factors, if you have a pool you will need to get the style that matches the pool design, if you have a deck you will need to find a style that compliments the deck.

In contrast to wrought iron sets, cast aluminum patio furniture won’t rust. When your furniture is aluminum this is as easy as one two three. Cast aluminum is the most popular choice because it is lightweight and sturdy. Your cast aluminum patio furniture needs to be top of the line.

Today’s the technology is so advanced that manufacturers are able to make resin and plastic patio furniture that mimic painted wood furniture, the detail is so close that at first look you cannot tell the difference. One of the most resistant materials for patio furniture is heavy plastic resin. If you are looking for furniture that can withstand the weather and climate changes one of the best types of furniture is plastic and corrosion treated metal.

After you purchased your patio furniture set many people decided to purchase cushions that compliment the set, this is a wise idea since it will make sitting all the more comfortable. When looking for patio furniture cushions they are not all created equal, you need to test the softness; weather resistance and you need to make sure that they match your set. Many people like the cushions that have that plump look and the feel of sinking into the cushions. The next thing that you want to look at when you are shopping patio furniture cushions is the type of foam used in them.

Another type of garden furniture that is more common is rattan or wicker. Depending where you live there are certain type of furniture that work better in different climates, for example rattan furniture works better in dry climates, while cedar or teak will work in any type of climate.

Many stores offer patio sets that are complete; they come with an umbrella the base and all accessories. If you get an umbrella make sure you get a base for a firmer footing.

The Beauty of Teak

By Adam Peters

When it comes to outdoor furniture, nothing beats the quality and beauty of teak. Teak is a top quality wood that keeps its good looks for years and years, and it one of the most durable woods for furniture. Because of these superior qualities, teak furniture tends to be more expensive than other types of outdoor furniture, but considering how long lasting teak is, it pays for itself over time, since you will not replace it as often as you will with other types of furniture.

Teak quality and durability is evidenced by the fact that it has long been the material of choice on boats. Salt water and other harsh conditions do not affect the strength of teak, since it is just about impervious to rot from water or dampness. Furniture made from teak, or a teak swing will endure even the harshest of conditions in your backyard.

Teak is so strong and weather resistant, in fact, that pieces of teak furniture have been known to last decades. And throughout these decades, this teak furniture will maintain its unique beauty. Some people like to treat teak with brighteners, but there are those who believe the weathered look of teak that has been exposed to the elements is even more beautiful. With these easy care and long lasting qualities, don’t be surprised that you will own your own teak furniture for decades.

There was an issue some years ago with the harvesting of teak, because it was so popular that the teak forests of the world were being destroyed. But today, teak is grown as a crop on plantations, and systematically replenished. This teak that is grown entirely for manufacturing purposes does not harm the natural forests of the world. If you want to make sure you do not harm the forests, make sure you buy teak furniture or teak swings that is made from teak grown on a plantation.

You have to recognize that if you have chosen teak furniture over any other kind of wood, or over resin or metal furniture, you will pay a lot more. Because of its popularity, long life and relative scarcity, it is considered a luxury and you have to pay for luxury. But there are sometimes bargains to be had in teak furniture. If a store has some overstock, or if a certain style is not moving well, they may put the teak furniture on sale. You just have to watch for such sales.

Grandma’s Yard - My Own Little Piece of Paradise

By Denisa Faustner

One of the treasures of my childhood memories is my Grandma and her special home. I can never forget my Grandma’s yard and all of her outdoor lawn and garden furniture as long as I live. I have so many special memories of her and her love for outdoor living. One in particular is going to stay with her in the summer and sitting with her on the outdoor furniture and her patio furniture. One special place was sitting in the wooden porch swing with her on the patio under the garden arbor covered with grape vine. I can still remember how particular she was about her outdoor lawn and garden furniture and her patio furniture being in just the right place in the yard and around the gardens. She had every kind of lawn and garden furniture and patio furniture that you can imagine in her front and back yards; wooden garden benches, tables, porch swings, garden arbors, adirondack chairs, just to name a few.

Grandma’s back yard was BIG and she loved flowers and plants of every kind. The wooden bench had to be just right under the apple tree. The adirondack chairs were under the pear tree with a wooden table between them. She even had a porch swing on top of her cellar.

She loved garden arbors. Her garden arbors were covered in some kind of vine or greenery growing. Grandma’s yard was like something that you would see in an outdoor living magazine and to a kid it was like a fairy tale place. It was my special fairy tale place. I wasn’t aware of how special all of her outdoor lawn and garden furniture was until I was grown and Grandma was in Heaven.

Now with a home of my own I too love the outdoor living. I love all the wooden benches, the garden arbors, porch swings, adirondack chairs and have them in my home and garden just like Grandma. They all are special to me because they remind me of my her. Anytime that I am able to sit outside under the garden arbor in the wooden porch swing, in the lawn furniture out around the bird bath or the adirondack chairs up on the deck I cherish that time. It’s a reminder that now I am building memories of my own with my own family just like my Grandma did with me.

How to Build a Patio On A Tight Budget

By Jessica S

Want a beautiful back yard patio without spending too much? Well here are some tips that will let you build a patio while staying within your budget.

1. Patios can be beautiful no matter what you use to build them. If you really like the look of stone, there are a couple of things you can do. It’s fairly easy to learn how to build a patio that looks like stone, but much easier on the wallet.

Use broken pieces of paving stones. Place them together like a mosaic on your patio area. You can then spray paint them different colors that are neutral and natural like stone. This works really well.

2. To save even more money, check your local garden supply stores for paving stones after summer. Spring and Summer are usually the busiest garden supply buying times of the year.

After Summer, everything gets marked down. So, this is your chance to sneak in and get paving stones and other garden supply items at a discounted price.

3. If you’re going to have a patio poured, look for times when cement companies are not as busy as normal. Again, after Summer and Spring, business dies down so you can pick up better deals.

Winter may not be when you think of building your patio, but it’s a great time to get discounts from cement companies. Or, learn how to build a patio yourself using bagged concrete.

4. Learn how to [http://www.buildapatio.net/]build a patio using low grade concrete. This is much cheaper than some of the higher grades, and can be every bit as beautiful. This will be even cheaper if you do it yourself.
